Welcome to Bloom Therapy, where we provide compassionate and culturally sensitive pediatric speech therapy services to all children in the Jackson metropolitan area. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to communicate effectively and we are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where each child can thrive. Our team of dedicated clinicians believe in the power of connection and we are dedicated to building strong relationships with our clients and their families. All speech therapists a Bloom Therapy services are certified, state licensed, and passionate about the pediatric population. We look forward to helping your child bloom!

Ashley McCallister, M.S. CCC-SLP

Co-Owner/ Speech-Language Pathologist

Ashley is an enthusiastic and compassionate speech therapist.  She holds a certificate of clinical competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a Mississippi state SLP license, as well as a 215 Educator's License from the Mississippi Department Education. Being born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Ashley received her Bachelors of Science in Health Science from Bradley University. She later moved to Mississippi to attend Jackson State University where she obtained her Masters of Science in Communicative Disorders. 

While at Jackson State, Ashley became a Project Access Grant Scholar. The Project Access Grant enrolled scholars in specialized courses providing them with specialized clinical learning opportunities. During her time on the grant, Ashley was trained to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate assessments and intervention to children with language and literacy disabilities in public schools. Ashley also worked as a research assistant for JSU's Language and Literacy in Diverse Children Lab. She has also acted as group leader, counselor, and communication partner at an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) summer camp.

 

Ashley has been exposed to a diverse range of experiences in her young career. Her post-graduate experiences have included early intervention, preschool and elementary school settings as well as outpatient clinics where she provided services to both children and adults. Ashley has experience working with clients with Down Syndrome, fluency disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, swallowing disorders, and developmental delays. She also serves as a clinical supervisor for Jackson State's graduate speech therapy program.

In her spare time she enjoys traveling, bowling, going to the movie theater, and spending time with her family and friends.

Melissa Monaghan, M.A. CCC-SLP

Co-Owner/ Speech-Language Pathologist

Melissa is currently completing her 12th year as a speech language pathologist. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorder from the University of Mississippi in 2009 and a Masters of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Louisiana State University in 2011.

 

After graduation, Melissa participated in travel speech therapy services in Texas, California, Louisiana, and Hawaii. She has worked in various therapy settings including schools, private practice, and skilled nursing facilities. Melissa holds a certificate of clinical competence (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association and was presented the Award for Continuing Education (ACE) in 2021 for completing at least 70 professional education hours in a period of 3 years. She holds a valid Mississippi Department of Health for Speech Language Pathology License (S-3873), as well as a 215 Educator's License from the Mississippi Department Education as a practicing Speech and Language Pathologist. Melissa has previously served as a clinical supervisor for the graduate program for Speech Language Pathology at Jackson State University.

 

Melissa has extensive experience in evaluation and treatment of the pediatric population with a variety of disorders, including Autism, Apraxia, Developmental Disorders, Neurological disorders, Feeding & Swallowing Disorders, and Fluency disorders. For the previous 6 years, Melissa has worked for Rankin County School District providing speech therapy services for ages 3-18. She has experience with a variety of Alternative and Augmentative Communication Devices and programs including LAMP Words for Life, Proloquo2go, and PECs.

Melissa enjoys spending time with her two-year old daughter, Lily, and dog, Paisley. she enjoys watching LSU and Saints football, traveling, and spending time with her family in New Orleans.
